Basic information

VNEEC has profound knowledge of national institution hierarchies and national circumstances supporting by a good database on current Vietnamese industrial sectors and international best practices in order to provide high quality consultancy services to the Government authorities and international (bilateral, international) donors for policy review and development as well as other services (survey, analysis, capacity building, etc.) in the field of energy, environment and climate change.

Notable Projects

Development of the Biennial Update Report 2 (BUR 2) of Viet Nam for UNFCCC, 2017: Data collection and reporting on mitigation activities for BUR 2 of Viet Nam.

Creation of an overarching framework for NAMA and MRV in Vietnam funded by GIZ, 2015-2018: Development of an overarching framework for Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system in Viet Nam.

Nordic partnership initiative pilot programme for supporting up-scaled mitigation action in Vietnam’s cement sector, 2014-2016: National survey and development of the national energy and CO2 database for Viet Nam’s cement sector; design of the financial mechanisms and MRV procedures and development of the stakeholder’s engagement plan for up-scaled mitigation actions in the cement sector.

Project to support the Planning and Implementation of NAMAs (SPI-NAMA) funded by JICA, 2015-2018: Strengthening capacity on NAMA planning and implementation and supporting the implementation of Viet Nam’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

“Analysis of Current and Future Carbon Market in Vietnam and Developing Domestic Carbon Market” financed by MONRE, 2011: In-depth analysis of current trend of the carbon market in Viet Nam and the future of CDM and other carbon mechanisms in Viet Nam.

“Renewable Energy Development Project in Vietnam” financed by State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland and implemented by Ernst Basler + Partner AG, 2011-2014: Data collection and policy analysis for the renewable energy sector in Viet Nam.

“Recommendation to Policy for Promoting Medium – Small Scale Hydropower Projects and Its Scheme for Implementation in Vietnam” under “Japan Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (BOCM)/Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) initiated by The Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan”, 2012 – 2013: Policy review and recommendation for promotion of low-carbon technologies and products under BOCM/JCM with focus on hydropower sector.
