February 18, 2014, Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company (VNEEC) in collaboration with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) successfully organized the workshop “Introduction of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)” in Ho Chi Minh City.

The JCM is a carbon emission reduction mechanism proposed by Japan to promote bilateral cooperation with developing countries like Viet Nam to implement actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through transfers. The Vietnamese and Japanese governments have reached an agreement on cooperation in the development of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) through the signing of the Japan-Viet Nam Memorandum of Understanding on low carbon growth on July 2 two thousand and thirteen.

The workshop aimed at promoting JCM implementation in Vietnam and introducing projects and seeking JCM project ideas in Vietnam. The seminar introduced to participants about JCM and updated the latest developments of JCM in Viet Nam and around the world. In addition, the methodology “Improving energy efficiency for arc furnaces in steel making industry” was introduced and discussed with participants.
