On October 1, 2026, Ms. Nguyen Hong Loan, Partner/Director of Advisory and Climate Solutions of Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company (VNEEC), shared Vietnam’s experience in monetizing forest emission reductions at the webinar “The path to Market: Monetizing Excess Forest Carbon Credits”, organized by World Bank.

The webinar convened World Bank experts, representatives of donor organizations, development partners, and international consulting firms in the fields of carbon markets and climate finance. The program featured insights and experiences from Vietnam, Chile, and the consulting firm Climate Focus, covering perspectives on strengthening policy and institutional frameworks, assessing market opportunities, and executing forest carbon credit transactions.

During the presentation at the webinar, Ms. Loan shared Vietnam’s experience in implementing the North Central Region Emission Reductions Program (FCPF ERPA), focusing on key achievements, implementation challenges, and lessons learned in establishing legal, institutional, and technical frameworks for monetizing forest emission reductions.

The presentation also highlighted findings from the Technical Assistance (TA) project “Analysis of opportunities for transaction of forestry carbon credits in the context of Vietnam”, funded by the World Bank and conducted in 2025 by a consulting consortium led by VNEEC alongside South Pole (Switzerland). The TA aimed to support the Vietnam Forest Protection and Development Fund (VNFF) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) in managing surplus emission reductions from the FCPF ERPA Program, while identifying options for utilizing and monetizing these emission reductions and future forest carbon credits through a comprehensive review of relevant legal, institutional, and technical requirements.

Through this activity, VNEEC continues to contribute its technical expertise and practical experience to research, policy advisory, and carbon market solution development, helping mobilize financial resources for forest protection and development while supporting Vietnam in achieving its climate goals.
