19 July 2021. VNEEC recently had a meeting with the parties including Sống Foundation and Singapore’s Temasek Group to evaluate and advise on the development – registration as carbon credit projects to generate credits from community and nature conservation projects that are currently being implemented by Sống Foundation in the central regions of Vietnam. In case the eligible criteria for a carbon project are met, the revenue generated from the sale of the credits will make the project activities more viable and scalable.
At the meeting, the parties shared information on the project activities of Sống Foundation, the possibility of Temasek’s participation as an investor to provide additional financial resource, and the preliminary technical assessment of VNEEC on the potential applying for carbon credits of these project activities. VNEEC’s experts highlighted the technical and policy-related challenges of the carbon project, and VNEEC pledged to provide voluntary support to assess the carbon credit potential for the project activities developed by Sống Foundation in the near future.
