More than 180 participants attended the Conference. Deputy Minister of MONRE – Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Secretary of State for Trade – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark – Ms. Anne H. Steffensen, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Denmark in Viet Nam – Mr. Peter Lysholt Hansen opened and chair the Workshop.
Delegates heard and updated the Danish Government’s policies on Climate Change, Greenhouse gas emission reductions, and the commitment to cooperation and support for the Government of Viet Nam to implement “Climate Change Response and Mitigation Program 2009-2013 period”; policies of the Government of Viet Nam to promote and develop CDM market in Viet Nam; Denmark’s support mechanism to reduce risks for CDM projects; CO2 market and prices in CDM projects; assessing CDM potential of Viet Nam in terms of areas as well as some risks in developing CDM projects in Viet Nam; experience in developing and implementing CDM projects in wastewater and cement; as well as common problems in registering and implementing CDM projects.
At the forum, delegates also introduced and discussed the potential of applying CDM to some investment projects and the potential of some localities (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Tho).
The workshop has completed its mission as a forum to update and exchange information and experiences on CDM project development and development in Viet Nam; search for new potential CDM projects; and consolidate and build a cooperative network with domestic and foreign partners to realize potential CDM projects and promote CDM market in Viet Nam.
