VNEEC holds kick-off meeting for the Technical Assistance on “Stakeholder mapping and Baseline study for blue carbon potential in Vietnam”, funded by UNDP

On March 2, 2026, Energy and Environment Consulting Joint Stock Company (VNEEC) held a kick-off meeting for the Technical Assistance on “Stakeholder mapping and Baseline study for blue carbon potential in Vietnam”, funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam. The assignment aims to provide an overview of the blue carbon landscape in Vietnam.

In the context of Vietnam’s strong commitment to global climate action, including its pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, Nature-based Solutions (NbS), including coastal ecosystems, are receiving increasing attention. However, the potential of blue carbon ecosystems beyond mangroves remains insufficiently assessed and has not yet been effectively integrated into existing climate policies and planning frameworks.

This Assignment aims to provide an overview of the blue carbon landscape in Vietnam through the development of two key outputs: (i) A baseline study report on blue carbon potential; and (ii) A mapping report of key stakeholders and ongoing blue carbon action projects. The findings will serve as a foundation for identifying priorities and developing an action roadmap under the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership (NBCAP).

Through this Assignment, VNEEC will continue to contribute to policy development, resource mobilization and the promotion of blue carbon initiatives in Vietnam in the coming period.
