VNEEC participates in the kick-off meeting with VNFF under the technical Assistance “Analysis of Opportunities for the Transaction of Forestry Carbon Credits in the Context of Viet Nam”

On September 10, 2025, the consortium of consultants, consisting of the Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company (VNEEC) and South Pole Group (Switzerland), held a working session with the Vietnam Forest Protection and Development Fund (VNFF) and the World Bank under the Technical Assistance “Analysis of Opportunities for the Transaction of Forestry Carbon Credits in the Context of Viet Nam”. The project is funded by the World Bank to support the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in managing and commercializing forest carbon credits, including surplus emission reductions from the North Central Region Emission Reductions Program (NCR) under the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), as well as future forest credits.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged and discussed to finalize the project implementation plan, building on the outcomes of the kick-off meeting with the World Bank on August 22, 2025. The consortium, represented by VNEEC, presented detailed contents on objectives, scope, approach, and upcoming implementation plans of the technical assistance. Mr. Lê Văn Thanh, Deputy Director of VNFF, highly appreciated the proposed plan and emphasized the necessity of a concrete, feasible implementation roadmap with clear allocation of responsibilities among the stakeholders. VNFF affirmed its commitment to closely coordinate with the Consulting Team and the World Bank, while prioritizing the direct participation of forest owners in consultation activities and carbon credit commercialization in the coming phase.

The kick-off meeting laid an important foundation for close cooperation among the parties during implementation, towards the goal of strengthening Vietnam’s capacity in managing and commercializing forest carbon credits, contributing to the fulfillment of greenhouse gas emission reduction commitments and the development of a sustainable carbon market.
