An Giang is one of Vietnam’s most important rice-producing provinces, accounting for approximately 35% of the total rice-growing area of the Mekong Delta. With this strategic position, An Giang has been identified as a key province for the implementation of the Solutions to accelerate the sustainable development of one million hectares of high-quality and low-carbon rice associated with green growth program in the Mekong Delta to 2030.
In order to contribute to the effective implementation of the Project, on 21 January 2026, the An Giang Agricultural Extension Center, in coordination with Global Organic Clean Agriculture Group Co., Ltd., organized the seminar titled “Solutions for developing high-quality, low-emission rice production in support of the one-million-hectare rice program in An Giang.” This served as a forum for cooperatives, farmers, businesses and experts to exchange views, discuss practical challenges, and propose solutions for the on-the-ground implementation of the program.
At the seminar, three major bottlenecks in the implementation of the one-million-hectare rice Project were identified, namely trust, finance, and carbon commercialization. To address these challenges, the event introduced a new-generation linkage model based on a “seven-stakeholder ecosystem,” comprising: the Government – Funds – Consultants – Banks – Enterprises – Farmers – Scientists. Within this ecosystem, Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company (VNEEC) plays the role of a carbon-credit project development consultant.

Ms. Nguyen Hong Loan, representative of VNEEC, presented on the potential and roadmap for the commercialization of carbon credits derived from the one-million-hectare rice Project in An Giang. The presentation highlighted rice-farming practices with carbon-credit potential, introduced applicable international methodologies, and outlined the processes for project registration, validation, and credit issuance. VNEEC also put forward a number of proposals and recommendations aimed at gradually realizing carbon-credit project development at the local level, while ensuring tangible economic benefits for cooperatives and farmers.

In addition, VNEEC reaffirmed its role as a long-term partner of Global Organic Clean Agriculture Group in the development and implementation of carbon-credit projects. Previously, on 05 January 2026, the two parties officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in developing carbon-credit projects for investment activities with greenhouse gas emission-reduction potential in the agriculture, forestry, and waste management sectors.
In the near future, VNEEC will continue to carry out assessments and develop carbon-credit projects, with the aim of unlocking greenhouse gas emission-reduction potential and enhancing the economic value of sustainable production models.
