Announcement of the monitoring results and public consultation on the verification and issuance of carbon credits for the period 01/02/2023 – 31/05/2024 for the VCS 1975 project: Hong Phong 4 Solar Power Plant according to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)

Ha Do Binh Thuan Co.,Ltd. (investor of Hong Phong 4 Solar Power Plant) in coordination with Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company – VNEEC (VCS consulting unit) and emission reduction buyer – Swiss Carbon Value Ltd. completed the fourth phase monitoring (01/02/2023 – 31/05/2024)  according to VCS for Hong Phong 4 Solar Power Plant Project – VCS 1975.

Project activities include installing, operating, and monitoring the Hong Phong 4 Solar Power Plant with a peak capacity of 48 MW in Hong Phong commune, Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province, Vietnam. The clean – renewable energy generated from the project helps reduce the consumption of fossil fuels used to produce electricity and thus reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The project utilizes modern technology, reduces global warming, contributes to environmental protection, and helps to complete the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Project activities create more jobs and contribute taxes to the national budget, so the project positively impacts socio-economic development. Additionally, the project activities do not cause negative impacts on the environment.

Project monitoring results and contributions to SDGs during the period 01/02/2023 – 31/05/2024:

  • SDG3: Factory workers are covered by social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance;
  • SDG4: Provide 5 training courses on Factory Maintenance & Operation, Occupational Safety & Health, Fire Prevention & Rescue and Electrical Safety for factory employees;
  • SDG7: Provide 121,841.696 MWh of net electricity to the national grid;
  • SDG8: Create jobs for 30 direct workers at the factory with a salary higher than the provincial average as announced by the General Statistics Office (GSO) for the most recent year 2022;
  • SDG13: Reduce 103,460 tCO2 equivalent.

Project participants plan to conduct verification to issue carbon credits for the fourth monitoring phase in Q3 2024.
