Announcement of the monitoring results and public consultation on the verification and issuance of carbon credits for the period 01/02/2023 – 30/04/2024 for the VCS 1974 project: Srepok 1 Solar Power Plant according to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)

Dai Hai Power Development and Investment Joint Stock Company (investor of Srepok 1 Solar Power Plant) in coordination with Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company – VNEEC (VCS consulting unit) and emission reduction buyer – Swiss Carbon Value Ltd. completed the fourth phase monitoring (01/02/2023 – 30/04/2024)  according to VCS for Srepok 1 Solar Power Plant Project – VCS 1974.

Project activities include installing, operating, and monitoring the Srepok 1 Solar Power Plant with a peak capacity of 50 MW in Ea Wer commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province, Vietnam. The clean – renewable energy generated from the project helps reduce the consumption of fossil fuels used to produce electricity and thus reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The project utilizes modern technology, reduces global warming, contributes to environmental protection, and helps to complete the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Project activities create more jobs and contribute taxes to the national budget, so the project positively impacts socio-economic development. Additionally, the project activities do not cause negative impacts on the environment.

Monitoring results and contributions to SDG of the project in the period 01/02/2023 – 30/04/2024:

  • SDG1: Reduce the proportion of the population living below the global poverty line by creating jobs and paying wages above the provincial average, based on the most recent data from 2022;
  • SDG3: Provide full insurance for the company’s long-term employees;
  • SDG4: Provide 2 training courses on Fire Prevention and Fighting for factory employees.
  • SDG7: Provide 90,740.002 MWh of net electricity to the national grid.
  • SDG8: Create jobs for 29 direct workers at the factory with a salary higher than the provincial average as announced by the General Statistics Office (GSO) for the most recent year 2022.
  • SDG13: Reduce 77,056 tCO2 equivalent.

Project participants plan to conduct verification to issue carbon credits for the fourth monitoring phase in Q3 2024.
