The Global Impact Summit (GIS) 2025, organized by the Young Presidents’ Organisation (YPO), took place in Hoi An, Quang Nam from April 2-4, 2025. The organizing committee aimed to make GIS a carbon-neutral event. To achieve this goal, the committee selected the carbon credit project “Sustainable energy for agricultural drying activities in Thai Nguyen province” (Sustainable energy project), developed by the Energy and Environment Consultancy Joint Stock Company (VNEEC), as the carbon offset project for event participants.
At the same time, YPO launched a carbon emission calculation tool to estimate emissions from event organization and participant travel. This tool enables attendees to estimate emissions from flights and related activities, allowing them to voluntarily offset their carbon footprint through the Sustainable energy project.

Founded in 1950 in the United States, YPO is the world’s largest global leadership community, comprising 34,000 chief executives across 150 countries. In Vietnam, YPO was established in 1996 and currently has 57 young business leaders under 45 years old, who have made active contributions to socio-economic development. This year’s event attracted the participation of global business leaders and marked the 75th anniversary of YPO, serving as a platform for leaders to share strategies for carbon emission reduction, sustainable development, and making progress toward achieving net-zero emissions
At the summit, Ms. Dang Hong Hanh – CEO of VNEEC, and Mr. Nguyen Hong Long – Director of the Center for Creativity and Consultancy and Sustainability Study (CCS), presented the Sustainable energy project to international delegates.
The Sustainable energy project is a component of the “Sustainable energy program for cooking and drying activities in Vietnam”, developed by VNEEC under the Gold Standard. The project applies volumetric continuous biomass gasification (VCBG) technology, efficiently utilizing agricultural and forestry residues such as acacia branches, cinnamon branches, corn cobs, sawdust, etc., to generate clean gas for agricultural drying processes and produce high-value reusable biochar

With a design focused on comprehensive development, the project delivers multiple economic, health, and environmental benefits, making positive contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically: SDG 13 – Climate action: Each improved stove helps reduce around 12 tons of CO₂ emissions per year, with the potential to reach a total annual reduction of up to 60,000 tCO₂e. SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy: The project offers fuel-saving solutions for rural communities, cutting costs by 60%–85% compared to using coal, firewood, or LPG. SDG 4 – Quality education: It enhances community capacity through training programs and user guidance, ensuring effective operation of the equipment. SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth: By encouraging domestic production of the equipment, the project creates local jobs, increases income, and contributes to the local economy. SDG 15 – Life on land: It reduces pressure on forest exploitation, supports natural resource restoration, and helps prevent soil degradation by reducing reliance on traditional biomass fuels.

Global YPO Chairman, Mr. Sofyan Almoayed, stated that: “We will collaborate with business leaders around the world to share best practices for net-zero strategies, measure carbon emissions, and set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” He also affirmed that businesses play a critical role in addressing climate change, and supporting sustainable projects is part of YPO’s commitment to action. The selection of the Sustainable energy project in Thai Nguyen to support GIS 2025 not only reflects VNEEC’s environmental efforts but also elevates Vietnam’s position in global climate initiatives.
